Editorial standards
Guyana Tapestry publishes cultural, community, business and event based stories about Guyana and its diaspora. These are the ethical and journalistic guidelines that govern the platform’s publications.
Sourcing
Every story documents its sources or why sources may be withheld. Interviews are recorded with consent. Community submissions are reviewed before publication and are labelled as contributed work.
Rights and credit
Photographs, video and audio carry a credit and a rights note in our media library. Guyana Tapestry does not publish media without known sources and will considers removal of material on a valid request from the rights holder only.
Corrections
Errors of facts are corrected on the story itself with a dated correction note. Substantive rewrites keep an editorial revision history.
Directory and Events
A business or organization’s listing is marked verified only after the platform has consulted and confirmed with the organization in being published. The entry shows the date it was last confirmed. Events are approved by an editor before they appear on the public calendar.
Moderation
Comments are moderated. We remove harassment, hate speech, doxxing, spam and impersonation. Repeat offenders lose commenting access.
